Ford Mustang Saleen-Parnelli Jones, a Car Collector’s Dream

Saleen was founded in 1984 by Steve Saleen. Since they began, they have produced over 10,000 specialty automobiles and equipped 600,000 vehicles worldwide. Saleen’s manufacturing plants are in Irvine, California and Troy Michigan. They are a nine-time Manufacturers’ champion in GT sports car racing. Saleen manufactures the Saleen S281 Mustang and manufactured 500 of the Saleen/Parnelli Jones Limited Edition Mustangs.

Ford Mustang Saleen is a contemporary classic replica of the Ford Mustang Boss 302 Parnelli drove in 1970. The Saleen/Parnelli Jones Limited Edition Mustang comes in one color, Grabber Orange, which was the color of Parnelli’s racing car when he took the overall SCCA Trans Am Series championship.

It has the black-stripped “shaker” hood and contemporized louvers on the back window. It has a Boss replica wing and racing wheels. The Saleen bodywork includes new side skirts front and rear fascias and chrome trim as well as vented rear window quarter panels. The commemorative graphics include Parnelli Jones signature #15 race number on the doors, and each car is autographed by Parnelli Jones and Steve Saleen.

This limited edition Ford Mustang Saleen has the MOD 302 V8, 3-valve engine and high performance exhaust. It is engineered with Saleens Racecraft precision suspension and high performance Pirelli tires.

Ford Mustang Saleen-Parnelli Jones brings back the memories of the authentic 1970 Ford Mustang, all “souped up” with the look, sound and feel of the original. With its authentic design and top of the line performance, this car is a car collector’s dream.

Forty-Five Years of Mustangs a Look at the 2009 Ford Mustang

The 2009 Ford Mustang, “celebrating 45 years of life in the fast lane” is still a sleek pony car, but with some fuel efficiency built in. The standard 2009 Ford Mustang comes with a 300 horsepower engine, taking it down a notch from the 2008 Shelby Ford Mustang and has a mile per gallon rating of 17/26. With a MSRP starting at $20,430, it is one of the most competitive offerings in the history of Ford Mustangs, comparatively speaking.

Because of the economic problems and drastically declined automotive sales, Ford has taken a beating, like the other automakers. The interest in the 2009 Ford Mustang could be one of the redeeming possibilities for Ford. While they have promised a re-styled Ford Mustang for 2010, it is questionable what the status is. This 2009 Ford Mustang is still a stylish, racing sleek sports car that is affordable for most new car buyers.

At any rate, the 2009 Ford Mustang could become a collector’s item, based on the history of Ford Mustangs. If the restyled version comes out in 2010, it would be the last year for this body style. While the 2010 previews still show some of the classic retro feature of the Ford Mustang, government mandates could affect the future of some of these collector muscle cars and signal the end of an era.

The 2009 Ford Mustang still has a bold design with 18″ wheels and dual exhaust. This is no sub-compact. It is every bit as sporty as any in the history of Ford Mustangs.

Ford Mustang Memorabilia

The Ford Mustang was the vision of Lee Iacocca, who was Ford’s General Manager in 1964. He had envisioned a small sports car to be the next hot muscle car in street races. This is when they came up with the pony car class, which the Ford Mustang helped create.

In the history of the Ford Mustang, there have been many car collectors and enthusiasts. This has created a marketplace for Ford Mustang memorabilia. When the Ford Mustangs were first introduced in 1964, the sleek, modern sports cars inspired many car clubs, shows, rallies, and swap meets. These are all excellent sources to view vintage Ford Mustangs and other memorabilia that were part of the history of the Ford Mustang.

The Ford Mustang has its own club, Mustang Club of America, which was formed in 1977. The organization has more than 170 chapters located in the United States and Canada. They have published their own magazine, the Mustang Times, since they first started. Mustang Club Books is the official online bookstore for this club that carries large selections of books about Mustangs, racing and the general history of the Ford Mustang.

There are other collector’s items, when it comes to the history of the Ford Mustang. The Mustang played a huge part in the racing world, and there are posters, die-cast models, logo clothing, signs, and vintage Ford Mustang owner’s manuals. Ford Mustang memorabilia can be found on the Internet at various websites. Vintage Ford Mustangs are still a car collector’s dream.
